Gem Cutting Cost - Faceted Gems
BASED ON FINISHED -WEIGHT-
0-5 carats = $75
5-10 carats = $100
10-15 carats = $125
15-20 carats = $150
Gem cutting cost to make FACETED gems are based on the finished gemstone WEIGHT.
Note, the industry average finished yield is 20% of the starting weight.
Starting with one 10 carat rough gemstone, the finish weight should be about 2 carats. My cutting fee would be $75 dollars.
Starting with one 80 carat rough gemstone, the finished weight should be about 16 carats. My cutting fee would be $150 dollars.
Gem Cutting Cost -Cabochons
BASED ON FINISHED -SIZE-
0 - 25 mm = $35 per stone
25 - 50 mm = $45 per stone
Gem cutting cost to make CABOCHONS are based on the finished gemstone SIZE.
Starting with one 30 mm rough gemstone, the finished cabochon size should be about 25 mm. My gemstone cutting fee would be $35 dollars.
Starting with one 50 mm rough gemstone, the finished cabochon size should be about 45 mm. My gemstone cutting fee would be $45 dollars.
Gemstone Repair Cost
Recut & polish table = $25
Recut & polish crown (top) = $35
Full re-cut & polish = $75
Cost to repair gems are based on the amount of work needed to re-surface the damaged gem.
When a faceted stone table is scratched, the table can be resurfaced and polished. My gemstone repair fee would be $25 dollars.
When a faceted stone top is scratched, the crown facets including the table can be re-cut and polished. My gemstone repair fee would be $35 dollars.
When a faceted stone top is scratched and the girdle is chipped, normally the complete top, bottom and girdle would need to be re-cut and polished. My gemstone repair fee would be $75 dollars.
Drilling Holes in Stones Cost
- BASED ON HOLE DEPTH -
0 - 5 mm = $15 per hole
5 - 10 mm = $30 per hole
My fees to drill holes in gemstones are based on finished hole DEPTH. Hole diameter is 1.5 mm or larger

Normal turnaround time is five working days to complete the work needed to mount and calibrate the GBJ Faceting Accessory Dial Gauge to any old or new Graves Mark I or Mark IV faceting head.
